Selena Gomez should be in full bride-to-be mode, but instead she’s been “thrown for a loop” by shocking claims against her mom, Mandy Teefey, that have “cast a shadow” on her upcoming wedding, a source tells Star.
In a bombshell report by The Cut published on Wednesday, September 3, staffers from Gomez, 33, and Teefey’s mental health start-up, Wondermind, accused Teefey, 49, acting erratically, sleeping in her filthy office, seemingly not showering for days — and even allegedly snorting Ritalin. Some even blamed the A-lister for not stepping in “to help her mother when, by outward appearances, Teefey was struggling to function,” The Cut reported.
“As you can imagine, these allegations are devastating,” the source tells Star. “Selena is distraught.”
The drama is taking a toll on Gomez’ upcoming wedding with fiancé Benny Blanco, whichTMZ reported is scheduled to be held in California at the end of September.
The “Lose You To Love Me” singer is supporting her mother, adds the source, “but the timing couldn’t be worse. This is supposed to be the happiest time in Selena’s life and Mandy’s drama is taking center stage and sucking all the joy out of it.”

Gomez had been relying on Teefey’s help in last-minute preparations for the big day, the source tells Star, “but now Mandy isn’t in the right headspace. She has to fight back, and that’s taking all her time and attention.”
In response to the allegations, Teefey told The Cut she had “absolutely not” snorted Ritalin, and provided an additional statement to the outlet: “I started Wondermind because I wanted to help people with mental illness. It’s unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an ax to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth. Even more disappointing that the media is willing to amplify their lies.”
