Robert Downey Jr. ‘Treasures’ Close Friendship With Ashton Kutcher After Bonding Over Tech, Business

It’s a Hollywood bromance!

Robert Downey Jr. sees Ashton Kutcher as a trusted confidant, says a source — so much so that the two men trade advice on everything from business to marriage!

“Robert treasures his close friendship with Ashton,” the source tells Star. “The conversation started with their mutual love of technology, investing and taking business risks.”

The Dude, Where’s My Car? star has been famously successful in the startup world, backing companies like Uber, Airbnb, Spotify, Pinterest and Warby Parker early on, reports Esquire.

In recent years, his portfolio also grew to include a bevy of artificial intelligence ventures, such as OpenAI and Anthropic, per Fortune.

Meanwhile, Business Insider revealed Downey Jr., 61, put a chunk of money behind ClimateAi — just a year before a 2022 release on PR Newswire announced both he and Kutcher, 48, invested in 1Password.

“Ashton has made a fortune from his investments and Robert aspires to that kind of winning,” says Star‘s source. “But they have common ground when it comes to their personal lives, as well.”

As the source notes, the men are each on their second marriage.

While the Iron Man hero is currently wed to producer Susan Downey, the That ’70s Show alum calls former costar Mila Kunis his wife.

“Neither of these guys wants to go through another split,” dishes the source. “The way Robert makes it work is that he lets Susan handle all the big decisions.”

According to the source, Kutcher views Downey Jr. as “a role model” as he tries “not to mess things up” in his own union.

“The mind-meld between these guys is real,” the source says. “They’ve connected strongly over this stuff!”
