Come for Rihanna and she will come right back at you.
Last week, Ed Razek, the chief marketing officer of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, caused quite a stir when he said in an interview that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show wouldn’t cast trans or plus size models. He eventually apologized for excluding trans women.
But apparently Rihanna didn’t think that was enough. She has her own lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, which uses a wide range of models. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that she totally shaded VS and Ed on Instagram. Click through the gallery for all the info.

Model
Louise O’Reilly tweeted about the controversy, “Prime example of why brands need to be careful of casting directors opinions. Especially when it’s a 70 year old man who’s living in the past. Thank god @rihanna brought us @SavageXFenty this year with genuine attention & love of diversity in her branding ?”

Last week, Ed said in the interview with
Vogue, when asked about their small size range and the thin models in the show, "It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is.”

In the same interview he also spoke out about people being mean to models for being thin. “They skinny-shame them,” he said.

He also went after Rihanna’s brand specifically. He said, “We’ve had three pregnant models walk the show. Everybody had the conversation about Savage [x Fenty] having the pregnant model in the show. … All of these things that they’ve ‘invented,’ we have done and continue to do.”

“To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings...And like many others, they didn’t make it.”

“But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are.” Lots of fans, models, and customers don’t think his apology was enough.
