Nene Leakes has been open about her husband Gregg’s cancer battle, both on social media and on Real Housewives of Atlanta. On last night’s episode, she and Gregg met with his doctor and made a decision to try “holistic” cancer treatment instead of chemo. In the episode, NeNe, 50, and Gregg, 63, head to Texas for a CT scan and for an update on Gregg’s surgery. The procedure seemed to successfully remove all the cancerous cells, as the test came back clean.

The doctor recommended chemo as a preventative measure to kill any
cancerous cells they don’t know about. “What we do know is that chemotherapy can reduce that risk of the cancer coming back by about half,” he said.

But Gregg and NeNe weren’t on board. “Chemo is not something that Gregg is thinking about doing at the moment,” she said. “Obviously we hear all the report of people doing chemo and being very sick. So he feels like if there’s any other options that can take, I’d rather take those options and let chemo sit on the back burner for now.”

The doctor tried to explain that no alternative medicine has been proven to reduce cancer. “Unfortunately, there’s nothing that we have that I can recommend in lieu of the chemotherapy that we know could help reduce that risk,” he said.

By the end of the episode, NeNe and Gregg were consulting alternative medicine people.
