Marie Osmond and her husband Stephen Craig had a crooked path to their happily ever after. It turns out, when Marie married Stephen in 2011, it was their second time tying the knot. They rekindled their romance 26 years after they were first divorced!
Marie, now 59, was just 22 years old when she married Stephen in 1982. She’d known him since she was a teen.
Their original nuptials came shortly after Marie’s hit variety show, Donny & Marie, had ended. Less than a year later, she gave birth to their son, Stephen, now 36. The new mom was at a professional crossroads and didn’t know what to do.
“Everyone was telling me my career was over,” she told People. Her and Stephen’s marriage “had some trouble” and they split in 1985.
“All of a sudden I’m a single mom and I don’t know how I’m going to pay my rent, let alone feed my kid,” Marie revealed. “So I decided I had to get back to work.” She bought cheap clothes from mall stores and sewed sequins on to them by hand to turn them into dazzling costumes. Within two years, she was a country star.
