Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie’s Daughters Show Their Loyalties to Their Famous Moms
Zahara Jolie and Sunday Rose Kidman are showing support for their famous moms Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman while distancing themselves from their dads Brad Pitt and Keith Urban.
It was a banner week for celebrity moms. On April 26, Angelina Jolie accompanied her daughter Zahara to a mother-daughter brunch in Atlanta, where the Spelman College senior spoke about the value of maternal relationships. “My mom and I have a unique, almost kindred, relationship that can be hard to put into words,” the 21-year-old, one of six siblings, gushed, via Daily Mail. “I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being.” Later, the psych major appeared to take a swipe at her dad, Brad Pitt, who has been battling Angelina since their 2016 split, when she told attendees she’d taken on a “second mother role” at home by “caring for my younger siblings and mirroring the care and compassion my mom showed us.”
The following day, it was reported by Hello! that newly single Nicole Kidman‘s daughter Sunday Rose was #TeamNicole, when the 17-year-old appeared to unfollow her dad, Keith Urban, on Instagram following her parents’ September 2025 divorce. Though Sunday was back to following the country singer hours later, the initial snub pointed to tension between the pair. Sunday and her younger sister, Faith, 15, have been visibly by their mother’s side, accompanying Nicole to a Paris fashion show in early October and a pre-Oscars dinner in mid-March.
The overt mom love (which comes just in time for Mother’s Day on May 10!) proves both Zahara and Sunday have firmly picked sides — and are giving their famous dads the cold shoulder.
Rock History
According to a source, Zahara currently has no contact with her dad. She revealed in late 2023 that she’d stopped using the actor’s last name during a sorority initiation event. “As far as interaction or meet-ups between Brad and Zahara, it simply doesn’t happen,” the source tells Star. Brad and Angelina — also parents to Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — broke up following a 2016 incident aboard a private plane; in court papers, via Page Six, Angelina claimed Brad was drunk and abusive. (Following an investigation, no charges were brought; Brad told GQ he’d stopped drinking in 2017.) Zahara, who was adopted by Angelina from Ethiopia when she was six months old, has found it “hard to forgive” Brad for his past behavior, says the source. “She also had to pick up the slack at home because he wasn’t there. It was tough.”
Like the majority of her siblings, who are estranged from Brad, Zahara considers Angelina to be her sole parent. “The bond between them is rock solid, and Zahara says her mom is the most defining influence in her life,” the source reveals, noting that the trauma of her parents’ rancorous split likely contributed to her choosing to major in psychology. (After battling over custody of the children, the exes are still locked in a nasty legal fight over the $67 million sale of their French château and winery, Miraval.) “Her education has taught her to look at things philosophically,” the source says. “She left Brad in the rearview, and she hasn’t looked back.”
Pledging Allegiance
Sunday was quick to show solidarity with her mother, appearing alongside the Oscar winner at Chanel’s spring 2026 runway show a week after Nicole filed for divorce from her husband of 19 years. Court documents revealed that the Aussie actress had previously asked to be their primary residential parent, and that the exes had signed off on an agreement in which the Scarpetta star has the girls for 306 days out of the year while Keith has them for just 59 days, or every other weekend, People reported. “The custody arrangement is a clear indicator that Nicole is the dominant person in the family,” says the source. “If it weren’t for Nicole, there’s no way the family would have stayed together as long as it did.”
Keith’s big offense: The “Messed Up As Me” singer’s rumored romance with 26-year-old country singer Karley Scott Collins. After being linked in January, Karley called reports that she and Keith had moved in together “ridiculous and untrue.” But speculation about the Nashville-based star and a string of other rumored flings persisted. “The stories about Keith dating younger women make Sunday uncomfortable. She tries to take them with a grain of salt but that doesn’t mean it isn’t upsetting.”
