“My daughter just recently went viral,” Cannon said in a clip posted to Instagram. “And it’s so funny because the world thought the conversation was about something that it wasn’t.”
Monroe and her twin brother, Moroccan, are Cannon’s oldest children. After Cannon and Carey split in 2014, the TV host went on to welcome 10 more children with multiple women.
The controversy began in November 2025 when Monroe posted a message to her Instagram Stories clarifying her relationship with Cannon’s large blended family, per People.
“clearing something up guys, i only have ONE brother who is @moroccan.cannon. I do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many many years younger than me!”
According to Cannon, Monroe’s post was aimed at teens online falsely claiming to be related to her.
“There was like some, a couple kids online saying that they were my kids’ siblings. Like, ‘Oh that’s my sister, that’s my brother.’ So my daughter wanted to clear it up and was like, ‘I only have one brother, like literally in her age group. All these other guys that are saying they’re my brother are not my brother.'”
The father of 12 said the message was quickly misinterpreted online, leading Monroe to feel upset over the reaction.
“She was like, ‘I didn’t mean that. I said my dad has other kids,'” Cannon said.

Cannon said Monroe appeared “physically bothered” by the public commentary and was “apologetic to me and to her other siblings.”
Cannon said he used the moment as a teaching opportunity about the dangers of social media.
“I was like, ‘But let this be a lesson that you gotta be very careful what you say on social media. People will take something very small and blow it up to something that you don’t have control over anymore. So be very careful on what you share,'” he explained.
“It was a great lesson for my teenage daughter to learn where, like, you don’t have to say everything that you feel on social media because people ‘gon take it and run with it,” he added.
Monroe and Moroccan are the first children Cannon welcomed. He also shares sons Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah, and daughter Powerful Queen, with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary Love with Bri Tiesi; and daughter Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole; and daughter Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott.
Cannon and Scott were also parents to son Zen, who died in December 2021 after being diagnosed with brain cancer as an infant.
