Maks Chmerkovskiy could barely contain his outrage as his wife, Peta Murgatroyd, made excuses for new Dancing with the Stars pro Jan Ravnik and his partner Jennifer Affleck’s latest number as they dissected the “Wicked Night” episode on her podcast.
“We have to give him grace for not understanding foxtrot technique,” the Australian dancer, 39, said on the Friday, October 24 episode of The Penthouse with Peta, before Chmerkovskiy cut her off.
“No we do not! Are you kidding me?” the Ukrainian dancer, 45, argued.
“I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars. There’s zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of the partnership,” he ranted. “Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd.”
“Major disadvantage? She has no partner,” responded Chmerkovskiy, who was a pro on 15 seasons of the show between 2006 and 2018 and won once.

“I feel bad because she’s not getting taught the basics that she needs to,” Murgatroyd, who’s won two Mirrorball trophies over her 15 seasons as a pro, added.
Chmerkovskiy added that it’s not Ravnik’s “fault,” citing his lack of ballroom experience.
“He’s a Taylor Swift dancer, and it’s the obvious reason why he is hired,” Murgatroid agreed, calling him a “lovely guy.”
“But hiring a non-ballroom dancer to teach ballroom dancing to a celebrity as a job is outrageous,” she added.
In response, online fans defended Ravnik, 30, pointing out that he’s not the first non-ballroom pro.
“What was once a ballroom show we watched with our parents has evolved,” wrote one, noting that the Slovenian-born dancer at least tries to add some ballroom technique into his choreography.
