Macaulay Culkin Reacts To ‘Home Alone’ Mom Catherine O’Hara’s Death: ‘I Thought We Had Time’
Macaulay Culkin posted an emotional tribute on Instagram to Catherine O’Hara, who played his mother in the Home Alone franchise, following her sudden death on Friday, January 30.
“Mama. I thought we had time,” the actor, 45, wrote of the woman who starred with him in 1990’s Home Alone and 1992’s Home Alone: Lost in New York.
“I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much more to say,” Culkin continued.
“I love you,” he concluded. “I’ll see you later.”
The post featured a shot of the pair in their famous film, along with one from when they reunited at Culkin’s 2023 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
“Macaulay — this beautiful, dear little 10-year-old boy — was called a superstar, a moneymaker, one of the hottest leading young men in Hollywood by the world over. How does anyone survive that? “ O’Hara said at the ceremony, per Variety.
“Thank you for including me — your fake mom who left you home alone not once, but twice — to share in this happy occasion,” she adde. “I’m so proud you.”
Page Six reported that the legendary Toronto-born actress was rushed to the hospital early Friday morning in “serious” condition.
O’Hara, who was also known for her roles in Beetlejuice and Schitt’s Creek, was 71.
