All things considered, Olympian Lindsey Vonn is having fun in the hospital as she recovers from her tragic crash at the 2026 Winter Games.
On Monday, February 16, Vonn, 41, shared a video on Instagram showing a compilation of what she’s been up to since suffering a complex tibia fracture while competing in the women’s downhill run on the Olympia delle Tofane course in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on February 8.
While she can’t do much given her leg injury, Vonn was all smiles in the video as nurses, friends and family joined her to keep her spirits up while she got her hair done, underwent physical therapy and more.

“Thankful for friends, family, my team and all the medical staff that are getting me back to myself,” she captioned the video. “I’m slowly coming back to life, back to basics and the simple things in life that mean the most. Smile. Laugh. Love.”
She concluded the post by explaining that the video was made by her sister, Karin Kildow, saying, “It instantly made me cry and made my heart full.”
It seems Vonn will be stuck in the hospital for a little while longer before she’s able to return home to the United States. The athlete previously underwent multiple surgeries following the crash, which, as Star previously reported, left her with injuries typically found in motorcycle crash patients that can sometimes result in amputation.
In a previous update on her social media, Vonn explained that she’ll require more surgeries once she’s back home and promised to keep her followers updated on her journey as it continues.

She also shed some light on the specifics of what happened on her run, noting it was a narrow miss between what happened and a more successful run.
“Because in Downhill ski racing the difference between a strategic line and a catastrophic injury can be as small as 5 inches,” she wrote on February 9. “I was simply 5 inches too tight on my line when my right arm hooked inside of the gate, twisting me and resulted in my crash. My ACL and past injuries had nothing to do with my crash whatsoever.”
