Kylie Jenner stole the spotlight at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Sunday, October 18, stepping out in the coveted Fantasy Bra usually reserved for supermodels.
How Jenner, 29, wound up wearing the $50 million bra for this year’s event, however, is all thanks to momager Kris Jenner, 70.
While some critics have wondered why someone like Kendall Jenner — who has at least worked with the brand in the past and walked in their shows — wasn’t chosen instead, Daily Mail reported on October 19 that she’s currently tied to another lingerie brand, Intimissimi. Kendall, 30, is currently the face of the fall campaign.

It was reportedly Kris’ idea to tell Victoria’s Secret that her youngest daughter could be available in her sister’s place.
“When Kylie heard months ago that Victoria’s Secret wanted her, she said yes right away, she was flattered,” a source told the outlet. “Kylie walking VS is also very good for promoting her brand, too, as she has made it clear she wore Kylie Cosmetics on stage, which has allowed her to talk about her new product, the Winter Kissed collection.”
“Of course, Kris Jenner loved that Kylie was wearing the diamond bra. Kris can sure work a deal,” the source added. “She was like, ‘If Kylie is going to be at the show, it is going to be a princess moment for her.'”
The source said Kylie had “her sister’s support,” which Kendall showed by commenting on her sister’s Instagram post about the show, writing, “A gorgeous woman!!!”

Per Daily Mail, others behind the scenes weren’t as thrilled about the reality star getting the Fantasy Bra honor.
“I think it was the throwback models with massive fame who were miffed because it can’t be easy seeing the younger girls taking over,” shared a source. “Also Kylie is not a model, she’s a billionaire cosmetics mogul, so I am sure those old timers were like, ‘Stay in your lane, babe!'”
Victoria’s Secret chief creative officer Adam Selman, however, explained the brand’s choice for Kylie to headline the show, calling her a “cultural powerhouse.”
“Kylie really extends beyond fashion, beyond culture, beyond TV, beyond one singular thing,” he told Vogue for an October 19 article. “That’s the exact same thing that we do. Like, the show is so big, it’s true entertainment, and I think that she is a great catalyst for that. She’s really created her own culture, which – how many people can say that?”
