King Charles III, who recently shared “good news” regarding his cancer diagnosis, has a lot to be thankful for this year — especially Princess Kate.
“His Majesty freely admits he’d be lost without Kate,” a source exclusively tells Star of his daughter-in-law, 43, who was also diagnosed with cancer in 2024.
In fact, the 77-year-old monarch “depends upon” Prince William’s wife “for advice about physical and emotional challenges because she knows firsthand what it’s like to fight this wretched disease and come out the other side,” says the insider.

Earlier this month, Charles announced during a Stand Up to Cancer broadcast that his schedule of cancer treatments will be reduced in the New Year.
The Princess of Wales — who also had to undergo cancer treatment while being a busy mom to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — is a “true inspiration and guiding light” to Charles, says Star’s source.
“That said,” the source points out, “Charles’ decision to add more working days to his calendar in 2026 has raised eyebrows within royal circles, as a lot of people worry he could be over-stretching himself.”

“There’s a school of thought that it would be in his better interest to scale things back versus risk putting himself through the wringer physically,” the source adds.
In light of Buckingham Palace declaring that Charles is still in a “precautionary phase” and must continue to prioritize his recovery, the source says that he’s leaning on Kate a bit extra these days.
“Kate’s by his side and helping manage the schedule, which is a big reason why he’s so confident and full of energy right now,” the source explains. “She really is the glue that holds the whole family together.”
