Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau may have an official new title, born from their trip to Japan.
On Thursday, December 4, Trudeau, the former prime minister of Canada, re-posted an X message from Fumio Kishida, the former prime minister of Japan, in which Kishida called Perry the “partner” of Trudeau.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch,” Kishida wrote in the message translated from Japanese to English.

The message contained a photo of Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 41, posing next to Kishida, 68, and his wife Yuko, 61, in front of a Christmas tree.
Trudeau responded in his re-post: “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”
It’s another step forward for the “Dark Horse” singer and Trudeau.
The pair first ignited romance rumors in July 2025, when they were photographed dining together in Montreal. The previous month, Perry and Orlando Bloom, who share 4-year-old daughter Daisy, ended their engagement after an on-and-off 9-year relationship.

In 2023, Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire separated after 20 years of marriage. The former couple share children Xavier, 18, Ella, 16, and Hadrien, 11.
Perry and Trudeau are working on joining forces on something together soon, a source exclusively told Star on Wednesday, December 3.
“It’s all in the brainstorming stage at this point, but it’s something they love talking about, and as long as things keep ticking along, next year should see them team up on some sort of project,” the source told Star, adding, “They want to be a power couple.”
