Justin Baldoni is more than pleased with Blake Lively‘s settlement of the lawsuit related to the It Ends With Us film, according to his lawyer Bryan Freeman.
As Star previously reported, on Monday, May 4, the Gossip Girl alum, 38, and the 42-year-old Jane The Virgin star’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, settled the lawsuit two weeks before they were supposed to go to trial, after a lengthy legal battle that began in December 2024.
“I can’t talk about the terms of the settlement, but what I can tell you is that he is ecstatic, that both [CEO of Wayfarer Studios] Jamey Heath and Justin are ecstatic at the results of this and the settlement itself,” Freeman told Extra in an interview shared Tuesday, May 5. “They are very pleased with where this ended up.”

Freeman pointed out since the judge threw out 10 of Lively’s 13 claims in April — including all the ones against her costar and director — “You were left with a case that was really Blake Lively versus It Ends with Us, the movie LLC, the agency group, and Wayfarer Studios, so it was a very different case at the point in time that we had those settlement discussions than ever was before.”
“This is not his settlement,” Freeman said of Baldoni. “He’s already out of the case by the time this settlement discussion even starts. Justin Baldoni is not a party, and that’s what gets forgotten a lot.”

Additionally, Freeman noted the Five Feet Apart director sees the settlement as “a logical ending to a case he’s already out of,” and gave insight into his client’s plans.
“Justin wants to help people who have suffered similar experiences, when they felt like they were accused of something they did not do, and went and fought all the way and won in summary judgment and got that,” Freeman remarked. “I think what Justin wants to do is to help other people and to be a leader for helping other people in that way. I think that’s one of the many things he wants to do.
