Jack Schlossberg Says Mom Caroline Kennedy Was ‘Laughing So Hard’ at ‘Love Story’ Portrayal
Jack Schlossberg shares Caroline Kennedy laughed at her portrayal in FX series Love Story, calling it a stupid show, while campaigning for New York’s 12th Congressional District seat.
Jack Schlossberg has openly criticized Ryan Murphy’s popular FX series Love Story, which was inspired by his uncle John F. Kennedy Jr.’s relationship with Carolyn Bessette, and now he’s sharing what mom Caroline Kennedy thought of the show.
During the 33-year-old’s appearance on the Wednesday, April 15, episode of the Next Question with Katie Couric podcast, John F. Kennedy’s grandson said that he didn’t watch the show, but had “no problem” with anyone who did.
“I’m glad my uncle John was so cool,” he said of the late JFK Jr. “It’s not surprising that people — once they remember who he was — want to dress like him and be like him. He was awesome.”
Though Jack told host Katie Couric that he and his family didn’t watch the show, the writer said he showed mom Caroline, 68, “a clip of her [character], and we were laughing so hard.”
While Jack couldn’t remember which portion or episode he showed his mother — who was played by Grace Gummer — he said he and his family were “just laughing so hard, as if that’s how my mom acts.”

He added that Love Story had actor Ben Shenkman “dressed up in some plaid outfit” for his portrayal of Caroline’s husband, Edwin Schlossberg. However, Jack noted, “My dad’s the most stylish guy I’ve ever met, so it’s funny.”
When Couric, 69, said she didn’t think his parents “were portrayed in a very positive way,” Jack agreed, adding: “Classic — the two nicest, most dignified, private people in the whole world who do nothing but help others.”
Couric said that “must have been frustrating,” to which Jack replied, “Whatever. Who cares? Stupid show.”
Jack has been campaigning for his bid to represent New York’s 12th Congressional District. He’s running for the seat being vacated by incumbent Jerry Nadler, who is retiring.

After Couric pointed out that the exposure to his family via Love Story may have helped him, Jack explained, “I struggle to find a universe where someone taking advantage of my family is helping me.”
“As your questions indicate, it’s a mixed bag,” he said. “But I’m really proud of the person and family that I come from because our family’s legacy is of public servants and standing up for people who have been marginalized and using politics to try to inspire people to believe in their country and to fight for what they believe in.”
