Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie Bond Over Divorce Drama on Set of Maude v Maude

Actor/director Halle Berry didn’t hit it off immediately with her Maude v Maude costar Angelina Jolie.

“We had a rocky start,” the 58-year-old admitted, adding that their friction ended up serving the movie, which she described as a mashup of Angelina’s own Mr. & Mrs. Smith and the Tom Cruise franchise Mission: Impossible.

Eventually, the two found some common ground: bad breakups. (Divorced three times, Halle pays one ex $16,000 per month in child support, while Angelina’s years-long divorce from and custody battle with Brad Pitt is the stuff of Hollywood legend.) “We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes,” the Oscar winner revealed. “We bonded, let’s say that.”

Now sources tell Star that Halle was more than sympathetic to Angelina, 49. “Halle wasn’t exactly the biggest Brad Pitt fan,” says an insider. “She’s largely steered clear of working with him for 30 years.” The insider adds that the Catwoman star and mom of two is sensitive when it comes to men haggling over their kids and stands by her costar in her fight for full custody of her brood of six. “Halle has an axe to grind against guys who think they’re so above it all,” explains the insider.

As a result, she and Angelina who’s said her children are her only friends developed a genuine relationship, says the insider. “They found a solid friendship.”
