Guy Fieri didn’t completely switch up his look for no reason.
In an interview with People, published Monday, January 26, the Food Network star, 58, explained his transformation into “JustaGuy” was for an upcoming Super Bowl commercial for Bosch.
“If you’re going to go big, go big,” he told the outlet. “They said, ‘Well, can you shave your goatee?’ And I said, ‘I would for this. This is such an important commercial. This is such a big deal.’”
The restaurateur, who ditched his spikey blonde locks and facial hair for the ad, said even his family found him to be unrecognizable.

“I sent the picture to my mom and she said, ‘Who is that?’” he told the publication. “She said, ‘It really looks a lot like you, but I know it’s not you.’ I said, ‘Mom, that’s me.’”
As Star reported last week, the celebrity chef posted a video on Instagram in honor of his 58th birthday, where he debuted the look donning slacks and a button-up.
“Hey there. After so many years of celebrating my birthday as Guy, I figured, this year, I’d celebrate it as just a guy,” he remarked in the video. “Happy Birthday to me.”

The post was captioned, “New Year. New Guy. New Look.”
Meanwhile, on Monday, the TV personality and Bosch posted a teaser for the upcoming commercial. In the video, Fieri looked in the mirror, dressed like his usual self, before clips flash between that and him as “JustaGuy” while someone approached him with a facial razor.
“Just a little Big Game buzz. #LikeABosch#Sponsored,” the post was captioned.
