George Clooney to Open Italian Restaurant in France Despite Wife Amal’s Pleas for Work-Life Balance

George Clooney will soon be adding another job title to his résumé — restaurateur!

According to a new report from the Daily Mail, the Ocean’s Eleven star, 65, is set to open a new Italian restaurant in the village of Cotignac in the South of France, not far from the town where he and his wife, Amal, have settled down with their two kids.

According to the outlet, the new venture is part of George’s partnership with Canadian hotelier Graham Porter and is set to open next spring. According to the Daily Mail, renovation work is already underway on the new eatery, but its name, chef and menu have yet to be revealed.

Cotignac mayor Jean-Pierre Véran also confirmed George’s involvement in the restaurant, the outlet reported, though his name does not yet appear on municipal paperwork connected to the project.

The career move comes as the couple, who share nine-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, became French citizens last year, making the European country their home base after relocating there full-time last year. George and Amal, 48, first purchased a home in Brignoles in 2021, following their time in Italy.

It also comes amid Amal’s calls for George to slow down, with Star previously reporting that the international human rights lawyer had been begging for some serious work-life balance in the pair’s marriage.

“They’ve both been very consumed with work the past couple of years, and that absolutely took a toll on the relationship,” a source exclusively told Star back in August. “There just wasn’t any time for each other.”

That was especially true amid George’s Broadway run, which saw him temporarily relocate to New York City to bring his Oscar-winning Good Night, and Good Luck to the stage.

“They [weren’t] getting any work-life balance, and that eventually kills the passion in any relationship,” the source added, “even for these two, who have always been so hot and heavy.”

Amal’s pleas have served as a “wake-up call” for the busy actor and businessman, with the source noting that George, who famously revealed that the couple “never” argues, has since stepped it up in the romance department.

“[George] has realized he needs to woo his wife again or risk losing her,” the source revealed. “So, he’s breaking out all the designer duds again and looking really good and Amal has noticed. The spark is back.”
