Friends Fear Justin Trudeau Is Using Katy Perry For Fame: ‘He Needs The Relationship More’ (Exclusive)

Katy Perry’s new man Justin Trudeau is keen on broadening his own showbiz horizons — and it’s got quite a few of the 41-year-old pop star’s pals worried that he’s just using her for fame, says a source, especially as their romance grows more serious by the day.

“People have been fascinated with Katy for years, and they’re always going to be curious about what she does next,” the source tells Star. “Not so with Justin. He’s a nepo baby who flamed out in his political career and doesn’t have much of a path forward without his celebrity status.”

The former Canadian prime minister, 53, resigned in January amid declining public approval ratings and pressure from his own political party.

“Dating Katy has made him more famous, in a positive way, and he doesn’t want this trend to stop,” the source adds. “It’s absolutely key to his survival as a public figure.”

However, his “hunger for more fame and influence” could also be the very thing that dooms the couple’s blossoming relationship, notes the source.

“Justin needs this relationship way more than Katy does and everybody around her knows that,” says the source. “Katy doesn’t want or need any more of that stuff, but it’s Justin’s lifeblood and the only thing that’s keeping him relevant.”
