Fans Slam Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Front-Row World Series Seats: ‘The Grifters Are Here’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be commoners in the United States, but they’re still getting the royal treatment when it comes to sports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex turned heads at Game 4 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, October 28, where they were spotted sitting front and center in ultra-exclusive seats, right in front of Magic Johnson and baseball legend Sandy Koufax.
Harry, 41, and 44-year-old Meghan’s prime placement didn’t go unnoticed. TV cameras reportedly frequently cut to the couple during the game, and fans online were quick to call out their VIP status.
Johnson is one of the owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Koufax is considered baseball royalty, having pitched 12 seasons with the Dodgers. So when photos surfaced showing the Sussexes seated ahead of them, many viewers took offense.
One X user summed up the mood, writing, “Sandy Koufax is TRUE royalty! Those two clowns should be behind him.”
Others quickly piled on. “I’d way rather see Koufax and Magic. These two? Never mind,” one fan posted. Another echoed the sentiment: “The royalty is Koufax and Magic. Those other two are just rejects.”
Even more users joined in on the mockery. “Royalty is sitting BEHIND Markle and Harry,” one wrote, while another jabbed, “Correction – The Grifters are here tonight.”
Some blamed the couple for bad luck. “No wonder we’re losing. Bunch of jinxes at this game,” one X user quipped.
Others took aim at their popularity, or lack thereof. “Royalty,” another wrote, with laughing face emojis. “They are the #1 & #3 Most Disliked in America.”
And some fans speculated about how the Sussexes even scored such prime seats. “Magic Johnson and his wife are sitting behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I want to know how they got those seats. Clearly, some money has changed hands,” one comment read.
Beyond seating drama, a few pointed out that the former working royals weren’t exactly showing loyalty to their old ties. Meghan lived in Toronto while filming Suits, and the couple made their first public appearance together at the 2017 Invictus Games there. Harry also reportedly trained in Canada while serving in the British Army.
“The Blue Jays are the team in Commonwealth of Royalty but these 2 aren’t Royals. They’re wearing LA hats,” one person wrote, calling out their choice of team gear.
Another resurfaced an old photo of Meghan in a Blue Jays hat, writing, “And she was a Blue Jays fan lmao.. what a fake and how embarrassing 🤦🏻♀️.”
And as one user bluntly put it: “Awful attention seekers.”
