Denise Richards’ Contentious Divorce From Ex Aaron Phypers Is ‘Absolutely Bleeding Her Dry’
Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers’ divorce continues to get uglier by the minute, and a source tells Star that it’s having a devastating impact on the stressed-out reality star.
According to the source, Richards, 54, faces the very real prospect of having a dire financial situation on her hands.
“Denise is not worth as much as people think. In fact, she’s burnt through a ton of money over the years and even with all her fame, she’s never been in that mega-high pay bracket,” the source says. “She’s been comfortable, but if she and Aaron don’t figure this divorce out quickly she could end up struggling financially because of all the legal fees piling up by the hour.”
The source explains that the legal bills are “absolutely bleeding her dry” and there’s a very real fear that this divorce could drain the Wild Things actress of her savings.
“She’s so angry right now. She won’t listen to reason and just hire a mediator,” the source continues. “She says she doesn’t care how much she has to spend, she’s not just going to give in to Aaron’s demands.
“But, as wronged as Denise feels, that doesn’t change the fact that Aaron’s got a very strong case for spousal support so odds are she’s going to have to pay him out in the end on top of all the legal fees,” the source explains. “It’s a nightmare.”
Phypers, 53, first filed for divorce in July, citing “irreconcilable differences,” but since then, the former couple’s split has made headlines due to its ugly nature. Shortly after Phypers filed the legal paperwork, Richards, 54, was granted a restraining order after she accused him of physical abuse, including choking, slapping and more.
He later denied the claims and told Us Weekly they were “not true.”
As Star previously reported, Richards admitted on August 21 that she was having a “very difficult time” due to the divorce proceedings but told her social media followers that she would eventually explain everything that had happened when she was able to talk about it.
