Brooke Hogan opened up on her complicated relationship with her father, Hulk Hogan, nearly one week after he died at 71.
“My dad’s blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children. And our bond has never broken, not even in his final moments,” she wrote in a lengthy statement shared to her Instagram on Tuesday, July 29.
“We had a connection deeper than words, one that spanned lifetimes. I am so grateful that I knew the real version of him,” she continued. “Not just the one the world viewed through a carefully curated lens. We shared a quiet, sacred bond, one that could be seen and felt by anyone who witnessed us together.”
Brooke, 37, also reflected on happy childhood memories, recalling “watching him build my Barbie dream houses,” going on “jet ski rides” with him and “laughing ‘til we cried when no one else got the joke.”

She then addressed the reports about her estrangement from her father.
“We never had a ‘big fight,’” the mother of two explained. “It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business.”
Brooke said that she told her father that he had her support, and she even moved to Florida to be closer to him.
Throughout Hulk’s life, she’d been there for nearly 25 of his surgeries, but “something shifted” at some point, and he no longer wanted her to be present for them. “Everything started getting covered in a thick veil,” Brooke revealed. “It was like there was a forcefield around him that I couldn’t get through.”
Over the time that followed, they had disagreements that took an “emotional toll” on her. She admitted that she eventually had to “step away” from their relationship to “protect my heart.”
“I know in my heart I did everything I could,” she added. “He knew I would run through a burning building for him. And in many ways, along the path of life, I did.”

As Star previously reported, Hulk died on July 24 after allegedly suffering a “cardiac arrest,” per TMZ. He was taken to a local hospital by medical personnel where he was later pronounced dead.
On Monday, July 28, Hulk’s ex-wife, Linda Hogan – who was married to him from 1983 to 2009 – said she “had no idea he would pass away this soon” in the comments section of a throwback photo she’d shared to Instagram earlier this month.
“We are all devastated,” she added. “It’s hitting me so hard.”
