Brad Pitt is running out of time. With his last minor children, twins Vivienne and Knox, turning 17 this summer, the 61-year-old will have just one year to win them back before they are no longer required to see him, per his divorce agreement with their mom, Angelina Jolie, 49.

During their yearslong, custody battle — at one point Brad was allowed only supervised visits — says an insider, “Brad went from being at the center of their universe to being cut out almost entirely, it’s a desperate situation that’s only gotten worse over time.”

And, like the older siblings Maddox, 23, and Zahara, 22, the twins may eventually opt to go away to college. (Pax, 21, did not; Shiloh, 18, graduated high school last year.)

“He pretty well has one more year where they are mandated to spend time with him,” notes the source. “It’s a pivotal moment. He knows this may be his last real chance to rebuild a connection.”
