Billy Ray Cyrus got candid about his relationship with his family on Mother’s Day.

On Sunday, May 11, the 63-year-old singer-songwriter shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram revealing his superstar daughter, Miley Cyrus, has been helping to repair the Cyrus family bonds.

“I too rarely comment on rumors… but on this given day… I give you my truth,” the “Achy Breaky Heart” hitmaker wrote. “I’m so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage… her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most. We are so close to a full healing.”

The two-time Grammy Award winner said he would welcome prayers from the public for his family.

“We have all been through a lot. On this Mother’s Day I would like to testify to a couple facts. 1) I still very much believe in the power of prayer and respectfully ask if you do also … and have an extra prayer for the CYRUS Family… I humbly would accept,” Billy Ray penned.

Billy Ray shares three biological children — Miley, 32, Braison, 30, and Noah, 25 — with ex-wife Tish Cyrus. He also adopted her two older children from a previous relationship, Brandi, 37, and Trace, 35. In addition, he has a son, Christopher, 32, from a prior relationship with Kristin Luckey.

The country singer complimented his ex-wife, writing, “Tish Cyrus was and is the very definition of a strong mother. Trust me I’m the first to admit… being married to me was not easy. I’m very good at making mistakes. A very imperfect man.”

The Hannah Montana alum captioned his post, “REFLECTING ♥️🙏🏼.”

Earlier in the week, fans noticed Tish unfollowed Miley on Instagram. The “Flowers” singer took to her Instagram Story to explain the unfollowing was completely accidental. She also made a rare comment about her relationship with her father.

“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,” Miley confessed. “Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”

The Cyrus family drama became a topic of conversation in January after Billy Ray’s widely criticized performance at one of President Donald Trump‘s inaugural balls. Afterward, Trace posted a message via Instagram conveying deep concerns about Billy Ray’s health.

“We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it,” the musician wrote in part. “I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon.”
