Ana De Armas Found It ‘Flattering’ That Tom Cruise ‘Was So Smitten,’ But Romance ‘Didn’t Feel Right’

Mission, interrupted. Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have split, as a source reveals that the romance, which had been full-steam-ahead since February, “became overwhelming” for the Knives Out star.

“There was too much pressure with what felt like millions of fans dissecting their every move,” says the source.

While gearing up to costar in the film Deeper, Tom, 63, and Ana, 37, fell into a relationship marked by luxe dates — helicopter rides through Europe, a yacht vacation in Menorca — and even house-hunting in Vermont.

“It was flattering for Ana that Tom was so smitten,” says the source, “but all the hysteria about an imminent engagement was bewildering, and their age difference was an issue too. Even though Tom has more energy than most thirtysomethings, it didn’t feel right. Ana has a lot going on and work will be her focus for a while. At the end of the day she had to put herself first.”
