Chris Fischer is reportedly struggling to come to terms with the end of his marriage to Amy Schumer after the comedian announced they were going their separate ways.
“Chris is lost right now but is comforted by the fact that Amy will always be in his life because of Gene, but he is sad that it has come to this,” an insider told the Daily Mail of the chef, 45.
“Being her friend and co-parenting is great, but being in love and with her in marriage was better,” the source continued. “Of course, everyone eventually moves on from heartache, and Chris will too, but it is going to take him some time, as Amy is such an important part of his life.”

Schumer, 44, confirmed the split on Instagram on Friday, December 12, after weeks of speculation.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” she wrote in the post, which has since been deleted. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
In typical Schumer fashion, the Trainwreck alum added a humorous touch by claiming the divorce is not a result of her losing weight so she could “bag” a basketball player, and not because Fischer is a hot James Beard award-winning chef “who can still pull some hot tail.”

“Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” she concluded in her post.
Schumer and Fischer got married in February 2018 and welcomed their son, Gene, in May 2019.
The couple had also recently sold their Brooklyn home for $11 million — $3 million below the original listing price.
