According to a report published by Page Six on Tuesday, December 2, there is “zero chance” Amy Schumer’s marriage to Chris Fischer can be saved.
“They’ve been having issues for ages and my understanding is all they are doing now is working out a conscious uncoupling plan,” a source told the outlet of the couple, who wed in 2018 and share a 6-year-old son named Gene.
Speculation of a split began after a close friend of the comedian, 44, reportedly told the Daily Mail on November 13 that they were heading toward divorce. That same day, a source shared with People that the pair were “privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have.”

Schumer, 44, hinted as much in an Instagram Reel posted on Monday, December 1, in which she denied speculation that her recent weight loss or the 45-year-old chef’s autism are to blame for “whatever ends up happening” to the couple’s relationship. “Fingers crossed we make it through,” she added. “He’s the best.”
And the Trainwreck star meant it, according to Page Six’s source.
“There is zero chance of salvaging the marriage,” said the source. “But Amy also wants to have the most amicable co-parenting relationship possible with Chris, so they are sorting out what will work best.”
The couple has publicly praised each other as parents. In 2020, Schumer gushed to Fatherly over the “beautiful bond” Fischer has with their son.

“Chris is so capable and kind and loving,” said the comedian. “He’s just completely surpassed whatever dreams I had of him being a dad.”
Fischer only had nice things to say about the comedian, too.
“She’s extraordinarily loving and present,” he told Fatherly. “I’m very task-oriented with everything, which makes life kind of hard to rejoice in sometimes. Amy just stops and loves Gene and stares at him and reminds me to do the same.”
