Two years before former Nickelodeon child star Kianna Underwood was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn on January 16, another All That alumna issued a plea on social media asking for help for the troubled actress.
Angelique Bates, who starred on the comedy sketch show from the time of its 1994 premiere to 1996, took to Instagram in November of 2023 with a message for the extended All That network.
“I was not aware that [Kianna Underwood has] been in New York, homeless. I was not aware until last night, when for some reason it hit my newsfeed. I’m not understanding why nobody is talking about this,” said the 45-year-old in the video, which was resurfaced by TMZ.

Bates went on to say that “people are being selective with the help that they are giving,” referring to cast mates speaking out about another troubled former star, whom she did not name, but not Underwood.
“I can’t speak on any other show, but when it comes to All That, we try to give this facade that we are a big family,” said Bates. “…She’s one of us and she needs help, but she’s not getting it and nobody is speaking on Kiana Underwood.”

She also specifically called out Nickelodeon, saying, “The crazy thing is, she’s in New York and our corporate office is in New York.”
“None of us on the show, from the All That franchise, should be homeless and in the streets. That’s insane to me.”
Underwood appeared on season 10 of All That, in 2005. At the time of her tragic death, she was homeless, according to the New York Post. She was 33.
After the news of her death broke, Bates shared a video clip of Underwood on All That with the caption, “Y’all have no idea how much this one hurts…Sick to my stomach….So many people failed baby girl.”
