Best friends forever? Not likely based on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which starts off with Phaedra Parks visiting Porsha Williams for a hot mean and lukewarm team. During the meet-up, Phaedra dishes about her ill-fated meeting with Cynthia Bailey in the previous episode, revealing she finds Cynthia’s behavior “messy.” Both ladies admit they know dirt about Cynthia and her husband, Peter Thomas, and insinuate that Peter not be faithful in his marriage to “satan’s minions.” The other minion, according to Phaedra, is, of course, Kenya Moore.
While the ladies dish about Cynthia, Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker discuss their marriage therapy session, and Kandi reminds Todd of some of the sweeter moments in their relationship before they tied the knot. Kandi says she misses kissing Todd, who flounders when asked if he has any positive things to say about his wife. He is, however, more than happy to list his laundry list of cons, which include what he consider her inability to deal with problems. Todd, who shows no effort at all, abruptly ends the conversation when he decides he has to go to work instead.
Meanwhile, NeNe Leakes drives over an hour to pay a visit to Phaedra, whom she’s grown very close to throughout this season. The duo discuss Kandi, with Phaedra feeling like her BFF has not been there for her during the most tumultuous time of her life. Later on in the episode, Kandi visits Phaedra at her office, where they talk about their most recent lapses in communication. The conversation turns tearful when Kandi reveals she’s going through her own personal problems, having had her play close and the fact that she’s not getting any sex from her man, but her pal isn’t very sympathetic, considering Kandi’s still a “millionaire.”
It only takes a few minutes for Kandi to get to the root of her real issue though — NeNe. Kandia is shocked that Phaedra is leaning on a person who once called her “dirty” and a “liar,” but Phaedra is not swayed by Kandi’s opinion, and says she believes NeNe has changed.
Finally, the ladies all meet up for a therapy session with Dr. Jeff. Things start off with Kenya airing her concerns about NeNe, who declares that the two “will never be friends.” Up next comes Claudia Jordan, who wants to know why NeNe blew her off and calls her experience with the actress “bipolar.” And, if that’s not enough to make NeNe feel attacked, Cynthia calls her “sarcastic,” and NeNe chides Cynthia for being a “mean girl.”
And that was just the beginning of the shortest group therapy session ever — things get really nasty when Kandi voices her concerns about NeNe’s attitude and the fact that she feels NeNe threw Cynthia away after their friendship ended. Despite being the one to organize the therapy session, NeNe walks out upset after feeling ganged up on.
Next week: The therapy session continues and Phaedra wants a divorce.
