As the saying goes, “You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.” Exhibit A: The Bachelor star Chris Soules. While dealing with the show’s weekly dramatics in his search to find true love, behind the scenes, thoughts of his beautiful and brainy ex-fiancee were never far from the studly Iowa farmer’s mind.
Chris had been in a seven-year relationship with fellow Iowan Sheena Shreck, who eventually relocated to Southern California. The enterprising brunette is a district sales manager with a pharmaceutical company, and runs a paddleboard company. The pair became engaged during their seven years together — and even planned out the wedding — before the reality star reportedly called it quits.
According to an eyebrow-raising statement released by The Bachelor, “self-proclaimed romantic” Chris was “heartbroken” after he ended their love match “just months before he expected to walk down the aisle.” Why? According to the statement: “Although his relationship with his fiancee was good, he didn’t want to settle for ‘good.’ He wanted ‘great.'”
An insider tells Star, “Seven years into a relationship and engagement, and Chris ends it because he suddenly comes to the realization that he didn’t want to settle? That’s not the most sensitive admission I’ve ever heard from someone projecting himself as a down-to-earth guy. The funny thing is, Sheena is the total package — smart and sexy, with a warm and bubbly personality. Chris sounds like someone trying hard to convince himself that he still doesn’t have deep feelings for her…which I’m sure he does. He even followed Sheena’s page when he first joined Twitter.”
Chris hasn’t given a direct reason for his decision, but a source tells Star, “Sheena will be the one to provide the truth and insight about Chris, if she decides to tell the story.” In the meantime, the insider adds, “In his heart, I’m sure Chris was comparing all the fame-hunting females on The Bachelor to Sheena — and realizing how good he had it.”
