The world was shocked last summer when it was revealed that Simon Cowell was going to be a dad. The craze around the situation, though, was heightened by the fact that his baby mama, Lauren Silverman, was married to his friend, at the time.
“I regret that part,” he tells The Mirror. “But then, of course, you have a baby, and you look at the baby and you kinda go ‘this is what happened from it.'”
Now, the X-Factor judge and socialite are in a committed relationship, raising their 2-month-old son, Eric. Of course, that means Lauren and Andrew Silverman are no longer together. “It is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone,” the 54-year-old explains. “It just happened. You have to deal with it and man up to it. You have to accept the responsibility and the criticism.”
Although The X-Factor got canceled in the United States, Simon still works on the show in England, and is also on the panel for Britain’s Got Talent. “I am probably more focused on what I’m doing now than I was a year ago,” he says. “Maybe because it puts things in perspective, having two people in my life who I am responsible for.”
