Take it from someone who knows a thing or two about haters! Lena Dunham got some words of encouragement from Snooki, after being publicly dissed by Joan Rivers.
The Fashion Police host did an interview with Howard Stern, during which she praised the Girls star, but not without commenting on her appearance. When discussing Lena’s decision to wear short dresses (“above the knee”), Joan ranted, “You’re sending a message out to people saying, ‘It’s okay! Stay fat! Get diabetes! Everybody die. Lose your fingers.”
She did clarify, though, that she’s a fan of the actress. “I love that she’s funny, I love that she did well,” the 80-year-old explained. “But don’t let them laugh at you physically.”
Naturally, the comments sent Lena-supporters in a frenzy — including Snooki. “SHOCKER! @Joan_Rivers saying something mean? I apologize for her, @lenadunham,” she tweeted. “#YOURFAB ❤❤.” Along with the message, the reality star linked to her blog and added, “I was heavier, didn’t have diabetes, and felt sexy as a bigger woman. I didn’t have health issues and felt great. Lena is in no way, to me, obese to where her health is at risk. Lena I think you’re great and I’m sorry we have to deal with Joan Rivers rude and crude commentary.”
Although the 27-year-old didn’t respond to Joan’s interview directly, she did thank the Jersey Shore star for sticking up for her. “Thank you Snooki! ps excited by the opportunity to say that.”
