You don’t need months of publicity to release a new album when you’re Beyonce! The singer shocked fans just before midnight on Friday by announcing that she’d be releasing a new album.
But the surprise got even better, because immediately after, the 32-year-old dropped the entire, self-titled album in an iTunes takeover. Beyonce includes 14 new songs and 17 videos, and features collaborations with stars like Drake, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Beyonce’s hubby Jay Z, and more. Her daughter, Blue Ivy, even makes a guest appearance on the track “Blue.”
“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” Beyonce admitted. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans.”
The album comes after a very busy year for the star, who’s been all around the world on her Mrs. Carter Show tour since the spring — talk about dedication!
