Ah, the beauty of modern technology! In a new interview, Natalie Portman revealed that she was unable to make it to a reshoot for Thor: The Dark World with her costar Chris Hemsworth, but luckily, there was somebody close by to fill in.
And if you thought the actor was a bit more passionate in his final kissing scene with Jane Foster (Natalie’s character) — that’s because he probably was! It was Chris’ wife, Elsa Pataky, who stood in for the Oscar-winning actress so the shot could be redone.
“It was for reshoots and he was working in Hong Kong and I couldn’t get there because I was working on my own film,” Natalie explained. “And so they put his wife in my wig and costume — that’s why it was so passionate.” She added, “It was such a perfect solution, wasn’t it?!”
Chris and Elsa began dating in 2010, and tied the knot in December of that year. They welcomed a daughter, India, in May 2012, and are currently expecting their second child together. And, luckily, Natalie is married with a son, herself…otherwise something tells me she wouldn’t have given up a chance to kiss a Hemsworth so easily!
