The new Annie film has gained another A-list cast member! Cameron Diaz has been cast as Miss Hannigan, the angry and mean alcoholic who runs the orphanage Annie grows up in.
Cameron’s new role was initially rumored to be Sandra Bullock’s, but Columbia Pictures confirmed the casting choice on Wednesday. The film will be produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z, and stars 9-year-old, Best Actress Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis as the title character. Oscar winner Jamie Foxx will also star in the remake as a rich, Daddy Warbucks character.
This will be the first time Cameron will star in an on-screen musical role, so hopefully she’s working on her vocal chords to get prepared! Meanwhile, she’s currently steaming up the set of another movie, The Other Woman, which she stars in alongside a fello blonde bombshell, Kate Upton.
