Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson may be heading in different directions again.
The former bandmates, who have been feuding on and off since Malik, 32, left One Direction in 2015, were set to reunite for a U.S. road trip that was going to be filmed for a three-part Netflix documentary, but a source tells Star that the series may never be released because of an altercation between the stars.
At the end of a day’s filming, Malik and Tomlinson, 33, “went to a bar, and they got into a majorly heated argument that ended up turning physical,” the insider tells Star. “It was so serious of a bust-up that Louis ended up with a concussion.”
The “Lemonade” singer “is going through back-channels trying to obtain the footage, so it’s believed the Netflix cameras may have still been filming during the incident,” adds the insider, adding that the marketing rollout plan “is on hold indefinitely.”
“It’s unlikely as things stand that Louis or Zayn will want to be in the same room doing any press or promotion for it,” says the insider, “unless there’s been a major U-turn of feelings behind the scenes.”

The pair first showed public animosity by taking jabs at each other on X in 2015. A year later, Malik revealed in an interview with Capital FM’s Dave Berry that they were “not talking on friend terms.”
In 2019, Tomlinson admitted that the friendship soured when, unlike his other bandmates, Malik failed to support him during an emotional tribute to his late mother on X-Factor in 2016.
They finally reunited for Liam Payne’s funeral in 2024, and Tomlinson attended Malik’s concert in Los Angeles in January 2025. “An old friend of mine is here supporting me tonight,” the “Pillowtalk” singer told the crowd, per Pop Crave’s X post.
The Netflix series had been set to launch next summer.
