Meghan Markle still has business ventures in the works, despite Netflix reportedly not renewing the $100 million contract she shared with husband Prince Harry.

On Tuesday, July 22, The Sun reported that the streaming giant would not renew the couple’s contract when it concludes in September, with a source telling the outlet “there’s no animosity from either side” and “things have just run their course.”

However, the Duchess of Sussex can, and will, collaborate with Netflix on projects. Season two of the former actress’ hit lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, in which she “invites friends and famous guests to a beautiful California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips,” is set to be released on the streamer this fall. Whether Harry — who released Polo on Netflix in 2024 — will participate in season 2 remains unclear.

Additionally, Netflix has a stake in Markle’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, which sells honey, jam, tea, and cookie mix — and routinely sells out of its inventory during launches. The Suits alum, 43, even recently launched her own Napa Valley Rosé under the brand.

Netflix’s CEO, Ted Sarandos, told Variety in March, “We’re a passive partner in Meghan’s company, and it’s a big discovery model for us right now.”

As Star previously reported, the mother of two — who shares children Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, with Harry, 40 — has also expressed interest in entering the fashion industry.

Markle launched a ShopMy page in March, where she can earn a small commission if people purchase items on her curated list, which includes clothes, jewelry, homeware, and more.

“The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date because I do think that’s an interesting space for me,” Markle told Fast Company in May.

“Emerging designers love Meghan because when she wears one of their pieces, it’s an instant sellout,” a source told Star in June.

In Sarandos’ interview with Variety, he also detailed Meghan’s significant “influence on culture.”

“When we dropped the trailer for the Harry & Meghan doc series [in 2022], everything on-screen was dissected in the press for days,” he told the outlet. “The shoes she was wearing sold out all over the world. The Hermès blanket that was on the chair behind her sold out everywhere in the world. People are fascinated with Meghan Markle.”

Despite not renewing their contract, Netflix was pleased with the success of the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan, The Sun reported.

“They’re not unhappy with how things turned out,” the insider told the outlet. “They got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time.”
