Pink for President! That’s how many felt after the pop singer’s inspiring speech while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.
The 37-year-old gave a powerful speech about body positivity inspired by a conversation she had with her 6-year-old daughter, Willow, when she called herself ugly.
Pink recalled telling her daughter. “When people make fun of me they say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I’m too outspoken. Do you see me growing my hair? No. Do you see me changing my body? No. Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world? Yes.”
“Baby girl, we don’t change,” Pink said. “We take the gravel in the shell and make a pearl. We help other people to change, so they can see all kinds of beauty.”
