Veronica Perasso has built a career on showing up for her fans. This fall, she showed up for herself. The creator spent four days at The Heartland Gathering, an intimate consciousness and wellness festival held on a private ranch in the Nebraska countryside, and by her own account, she left as someone she barely recognized from the day she arrived.
“The version of me who arrived was upset. Anxious. Nervous,” Veronica said. “And the one who left was free, full of energy, happy, more confident.”
Between a dark cave meditation, a quantum energy reading, a tent with a queen-sized mattress and a few very large llamas, Veronica’s weekend in the heartland turned into what she calls a full metamorphosis. Here’s how it happened.
A Festival Built Around Love, Positivity and the Mind
The Heartland Gathering, hosted by Souls of Source, Inc., is a retreat-style festival with a simple mission: explore your consciousness and embrace love and positivity. It has been running for a few years, and Veronica says the word among returning guests is that it gets better every single time.
This year’s edition took place on a sprawling private ranch about 30 minutes north of Omaha. It ran four days and drew around 300 people, a deliberately small crowd by festival standards. Veronica describes the group as affluent, eclectic and health-conscious, with most guests in their 20s to 40s and plenty in their 50s and 60s mixed in.
“Such a great group of people!” she said.
Leaving the Masks at the Gate
Veronica first heard about the Gathering from her husband, and it sold her almost immediately. What struck her most was the atmosphere he described. The guest list included some notable names, but nobody was walking around with an ego.
“Everyone was there to be the version of themselves beneath the masks that we wear, and for once in my life, status didn’t matter,” she said.
The timing was right, too. Veronica says she had been craving something that would shake her up. “I was in need of an adventure that pushed me out of my comfort zone,” she said. “I’d wanted to dive deeper into my conscious mind and face parts of myself that I was scared to face, and this seemed like a good opportunity to do so.”

“Holistic Disneyland Merged With Ultra Fest in a Harry Potter Movie”
Whatever Veronica pictured on the drive in, the real thing blew past it.
“Unimaginably better than I thought it would be,” she said. “Farmland turned holistic Disneyland merged with Ultra Fest in a Harry Potter movie. I seriously can’t describe what I just experienced. Too intense and magical for my vocabulary.”
The property itself did a lot of the talking. Veronica describes lakes, trails and rolling hills, a huge outdoor gazebo where guests gathered to eat and talk, and a main lodge stocked with amenities. Statues and hidden sitting areas were tucked all over the grounds, waiting to be stumbled upon. There was also a full stage for live performances and a herd of animals roaming the land, including some impressively large llamas.
The centerpiece was a massive yurt, which Veronica says is billed as the largest in the western hemisphere. Inside, guests could drop into meditative events, listen to live music, or book sessions with practitioners from a wide range of healing modalities.
Roughing It (With Outlets)
Veronica slept in a tent all four nights, though she’s quick to point out it wasn’t exactly a backpacking trip. “It had outlets, a queen-sized mattress and a fan inside of it, haha,” she said.
Mother Nature still got a vote. It rained, the grounds turned muddy, and Veronica says that only made the experience better. The mud and weather kept everyone grounded in the outdoors, which was the whole point of being out on a ranch in the first place.
The Dark Cave and the Second Night
Veronica calls the weekend a metamorphosis, and she can point to exactly where it started. On day one, she took part in a dark cave meditation, a practice built around sitting in total darkness and turning attention inward. That session cracked something open.
The real breakthrough came after the second night. “I truly let go,” she said. “I allowed myself to be free. Let go of fear. Made new friends. And was authentically myself.”
What stayed with her most from that moment was a feeling of gratitude and momentum. “I just kept thinking how happy I was that I went and how excited I was for the future,” she said.
Quantum Readings and a Def Leppard Sighting
The people at the Gathering turned out to be as memorable as the property. One of the standouts for Veronica was a practitioner who performed a quantum assessment of her energy field and her health.
“It was spot on,” she said. “That was really cool!”
She also connected with several of her husband’s business partners and friends, and found herself sharing the grounds with a famous comedian and a member of Def Leppard. “When I say eclectic, I mean it,” she said.
Ask Veronica what changed, and the answer comes back to one word: fear. She went to Nebraska carrying it, and she says she left it there.
“I let go of fear,” she said. “I embraced the inevitable change that’s coming.”
The anxious, nervous version of herself who pulled onto the ranch has been replaced, she says, by someone freer, happier and more confident, with a lot more energy to spend on what comes next.
What It Means for Her Fans
That shift is already showing up in how Veronica thinks about her work and the community she’s built around it. She says she plans to bring the same openness she found at the festival straight into her content and her relationship with her followers.
“I look forward to embracing who I am. Embracing myself in every way without judgment,” she said. “Being more free. More loving. More open-minded. More aware. I want to help others do the same. And I will.”
She also made a point of thanking the people who have been with her along the way. “I’m so thankful for those who have supported me,” she said. “Seriously, my fans are the best!”
Her Advice: Just Go
Would she go back? Veronica didn’t need a second to think about it. “I would ABSOLUTELY go again!” she said.
And for anyone sitting on the fence about an experience like this, whether out of nerves or skepticism, she has one message, delivered at full volume.
“My advice: JUST GO! Don’t even think about it. Just GO!” she said. “Have no expectations, meet strangers, have conversations. We are all WAY more alike than we realize. Stop living scared and just LIVE! Be the change you want to see in the world. Be love. And stop doubting yourself!”
A Metamorphosis in the Heartland
Veronica Perasso went to Nebraska looking for an adventure that would push her past her comfort zone. She found muddy trails, giant llamas, a cave with no light and a crowd of 300 strangers who were all there to drop the act. Somewhere between the first meditation and the second night, she stopped bracing against change and started welcoming it. Now she’s bringing that version of herself home to her fans, and if her energy is any indication, they’re about to meet her all over again.
