‘Vanderpump Rules’ Alum Scheana Shay Dishes on Dating Jesse Metcalfe, Affair With Eddie Cibrian

Scheana Shay is sharing insight into her Hollywood entanglements in her upcoming memoir My Good Side.

In an excerpt shared with Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, July 2, the former Vanderpump Rules star, 40, recounted her relationship with actor Jesse Metcalfe and the beginning of her affair with then-married Eddie Cibrian.

The reality TV star met Cibrian, 52, while she was working in a cigar lounge in L.A., and she said the two began a casual relationship — which she described as a “weekly booty call” — in late 2006. However, Shay, only 21 years old at the time, wanted to keep her “options open” and eventually struck up a romance with Metcalfe, 46.

“That was when I started seeing Jesse Metcalfe, the sexy gardener from Desperate Housewives,” she wrote in the book. “In college, I’d watched the movie John Tucker Must Die, which Jesse starred in, and I recall thinking what a dream it would be to date him (not his character) — which I did, beginning in early 2007.”

Shay described Metcalfe as “an awesome guy” and explained he went to rehab shortly after they met, so they didn’t start dating until after he finished his program.

“I then spent my twenty-second birthday at dinner with him, and I vividly remember sticking to water and Red Bull all night as a way of supporting his sobriety,” recalled Shay.

Metcalfe also had the Scheananigans podcast host pick a present for herself from Neiman Marcus. She said she opted for a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses, which she claims she still has in her wardrobe today. “I could have asked for something much more expensive, like a Louis Vuitton bag, but I wanted to be respectful,” she added.

“Overall, Jesse and I had a great time together,” Shay continued. “We would order in dinner with his parents at his house, and — when we were alone — he would play the guitar and serenade me with songs like ‘Hey There Delilah.’ It felt like I was living a real-life fantasy with this guy I’d watched on TV and in movies for years.”

However, the two eventually parted ways, and that’s when Shay started seeing Cibrian again — this time more seriously.

“When I was moving apartments, Eddie came to help me and met most of my friends and even my mother,” Shay wrote. “His best friend also joined us with his son, who was a toddler at the time. We were literally intertwining our families and the people closest to us.”
At the cigar lounge one night, Shay alleged a member told her he heard Cibrian was married. Shay claimed she asked Cibrian if that was the truth, and he denied it.

“And his answer was ‘No, that’s insane. Why would you ask me that?'” she penned. “It was gaslighting in its most basic form. Yet, I trusted him, so we continued hanging out.”

Cibrian, of course, had been married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville since 2001 and shared two sons with her: Mason, now 22, and Jake, now 18. The pair divorced in 2010 — after Cibrian struck up a romance with his Northern Lights costar LeAnn Rimes.
