Toni Collette Shows Off Her Dark Side as a Creepy Headmistress in New Netflix Series ‘Wayward’
Schools for “troubled teens” are notorious for how they disguise abuse as therapy. Exhibit A: Tall Pines Academy, which promises to “solve the problem of adolescence.” (Problem?!) After police officer Alex Dempsey (Mae Martin, who’s also the show’s creator) meets two students desperately trying to escape the school — then learns 18 other kids are missing — the detective starts asking questions.
But the investigation quickly runs into the brick wall of the school’s headmistress (a very creepy Toni Collette). Sadly, this series is both horrifying and realistic.
