Soccer has outgrown the ninety minutes. And on April 23, the people shaping its future are meeting in Madrid to prove it.
Atlético de Madrid, working with Apollo Sports Capital, is staging THE FORUM — an exclusive business summit at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano under the theme “Leaders Inspiring the World.” CEO Miguel Ángel Gil will host what promises to be one of the most significant gatherings the sports industry has seen.
The attendees reflect just how far soccer’s reach now extends. UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, LALIGA President Javier Tebas, ECA Chairman and Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Inter Miami CF owner Jorge Mas, Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas, and Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida are all confirmed.
“We are proud that the home of all Atléticos, will become a meeting point for international leaders in sports, leisure, and entertainment—three sectors whose boundaries are blurring as they strive to enhance the experience for millions of fans worldwide,” said Gil in a press release.
Seven sessions will shape the day, all built around the concept of “The Leader’s Journey” — inspired by Professor Joseph Campbell’s framework from his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces, which describes the transformational arc every leader must follow to push their business into new territory.
Those sessions will span elite soccer’s evolving monetization models, the growing influence of investment funds in sport, the global expansion of Spanish brands Cabify, Fever and Mahou, the strategic power of major sports companies, the role of creativity and technology in generating new commercial possibilities, how streaming platforms and gaming are deepening fan engagement, and how fan-driven innovation is reinventing the sporting experience.
The day will end with “The Return with the Elixir” — an exclusive bespoke dinner designed by Dabiz Muñoz, the DiverXO chef who has been crowned Best Chef in the World three times.
