Teddi Mellencamp Celebrates ‘Real Change’ Amid Cancer Battle: ‘It’s Amazing What My Body Can Do’

Teddi Mellencamp was able to give fans an encouraging update as she continues to recover from her brain surgery in February.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, took to Instagram on Monday, June 16, and revealed that it was the “first day” that she noticed a “real change” in her hair regrowth amid her ongoing health battle.

“Cancer comes with so many emotions: anger, sadness, loneliness,” she wrote in the caption. “And while I feel grateful that immunotherapy is saving my life, I feel like I live in a fog, and I can’t help but beat myself up on all of the ways I am falling short.”

She added that she just “desperately” wanted to be “back to my usual self.”

“So this little bit of hair growth, this change from May 12th (second slide) to today, June 16th, made me smile,” the reality star continued. “It’s amazing what my body can do.”

Fans flooded the comments section with gushing words of love and support for Mellencamp – many of them who had also been through their own cancer battles.

One Instagram user wrote, “This is so real! I remember I would look in the mirror daily hoping my hair would be longer wanting to feel that same normalcy. From one thriver to another, give yourself grace. Feel the feels.”

“I totally get what you are going through … I too am going through the fight of stage 4 melanoma and I have all the feelings you feel,” a second fan candidly shared. “Keep up the fight …immunotherapy is amazing.”

Mellencamp’s fellow Bravolebrities were also eager to share encouraging words with her. RHOBH star Kyle Richards and The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Shannon Beador respectively shared clapping hands and heart emojis, while The Real Housewives of Miami’s Alexia Nepola chimed in, “Always in my prayers 🙏🏻 YOU got this Teddi ❤️ Stay strong.”

Lisa Hochstein, who also appears on RHOM, assured her, “You’re gorgeous inside and out.”

This isn’t the first time Mellencamp has been candid about the sweet highs and the painful lows of her health journey over the past several months. As Star previously reported, Mellencamp admitted in an April social media update that she’d had “multiple surgeries, had rage from the steroids, felt very sick, laughed a ton, ridden horses, loved on my kids and felt great” since her shocking diagnosis. (Mellencamp confirmed in April that her melanoma had reached stage 4 after metastasizing to her brain and lungs.)

While she confessed that she once cried when she saw the scars on her head from her surgeries, she also felt a “warmness rush through” her and felt “so much peace” at the “incredible support system” she’s had.

“Sending love to anyone struggling and reminding you if something isn’t feeling right to go get checked,” she said at the time. “Advocate for yourself. We have got this.”
