Taylor Swift Wants to Play ‘Matchmaker’ for Tom Cruise: ‘She’s Going to Find Him the Right Gal’

Tom Cruise is keen to cast Taylor Swift and husband Travis Kelce in upcoming movies in the hopes that they’ll set him up with a new leading lady in return, a source tells Star.

“Travis has his heart set on a Hollywood career, so there’s almost no one better to be getting close to than Tom,” admits the source. “He can really make things happen.”

The Top Gun: Maverick star, 64, attended the couple’s July 3 wedding at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and recently joined Swift, 36, in cheering on the 36-year-old tight end at the Kansas City Chiefs home opener in Missouri on Monday, September 14.

“She was schooling me on football,” Cruise revealed during his Thursday, September 17 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I hadn’t been to a football game since pre-Covid, where I was working and everything. So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot of fun … she knows her stuff.”

As does Cruise.

“Football is still the focus for Travis, but once he does step back and he’s ready to act, Tom will be a fantastic help,” says the source.

During the off-season, Kelce starred in several projects, including Grotesquerie and Happy Gilmore 2, and even hosted a game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?.

“Taylor is all for it. She wants to see Travis achieve his dreams,” shares the source. “Whether she decides to step in front of the camera [too] remains to be seen.”

Over the course of her career, the pop star has appeared in films like Valentine’s Day, The Giver, Cats and Amsterdam and landed roles on TV shows such as New Girl.

“It’s no secret that she’s got an itch to scratch after the whole Cats disaster,” the source says of the 2019 Broadway musical adaptation bombing at the box office. “But there’s definitely some reservations on her part.”

There is, however, one role Swift “very much” wants to play, spills the source, and that’s “matchmaker” to Cruise.

“She told Tom that she’s going to find him the right gal, and she really means it,” the source says. “She’s so in love, she wants everyone to feel as happy as she does so she will be seriously devoting herself to this. Tom is in great hands.”
