Sandra Bullock ‘Still Trying’ to Navigate 2023 Death of Partner Bryan Randall: ‘Hit Her Like a Mac Truck’

In 2023, Sandra Bullock suffered a devastating loss.

Her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, passed away at the age of 57 following a secret battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

“Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request,” his family said in a statement to People at the time. “At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”

The actress, 61, completely disappeared from the spotlight.

“[His death] hit her like a Mack truck,” a source told the Daily Mail in an article published Saturday, November 15. “A broken heart is something that everyone takes differently, and for Sandra the past few years have been very trying.”

“Right now, there are some struggles she is still trying to get through,” the source continued. “But her kids [son Louis, 16, and daughter Laila, 11] are really a force for her and getting through the hard times.”

Slowly but surely, Bullock has gradually started to resurface. In 2024, she vacationed with Jennifer Aniston in Connecticut and New York, and celebrated Friendsgiving with her A-list pals later that year.

Soon, she’ll be back on the big screen, too.

Bullock recently finished filming the upcoming Practical Magic sequel with Nicole Kidman, who gushed to People that the two had “the best time together” on set. She is also set to star opposite former Speed costar Keanu Reeves in a new romantic thriller.

“When she is back, she’ll do all the interviews, talk about everything he has been going through, but she isn’t ready yet,” the source told the outlet. “She’ll return in her own time and on her own terms.”
