After taking over the Welsh soccer club Wrexham A.F.C., Ryan Reynolds and partner Rob McElhenney can now toast the team’s exploits with their very own suds.

Ryan, 48, and Rob, 47, are new co-owners of the Wrexham Lager Beer Co., a local brewery that dates back to 1882. The pair joked that they’ve learned a lot owning the soccer club, “the intricacies of the offsides rule and the occasional need for a beer — especially after finance meetings,” making the new acquisition a perfect fit.

With an estimated net worth of $350 million, Ryan hardly needs the cash. But a source tells Star he sees the brewery deal as a way to continue to build connections in Wales. “He and Rob are very popular in Wales because of the way they’ve supported the community,” says the insider.

Not everyone’s a fan of the Yanks, however. Some are balking at plans to expand the team’s stadium to fit up to 55K fans. Said one local, “We’re just not a big enough place, mate.”
