Reneé Rapp Recounts Being ‘Forced’ by Cara Delevingne to Meet Her ‘Hero’ Beyoncé

Reneé Rapp met her idol Beyoncé — against her will — thanks to her best friend, Cara Delevingne.

On Tuesday, May 27, Rapp, 25, was a guest on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast and revealed that Delevingne, 32, played a major role in bringing the Mean Girls actress and Bey, 43, together.

“I have met Beyoncé. I was forced by one of my best friends [Delevingine],” Rapp shared. “She will always introduce me to someone. Always. She’s like, ‘You Must.’ And for Beyoncé, she was like, ‘This is your like hero.'”

The “Too Well” hitmaker explained the introduction took place at an Oscars afterparty where all three women were in attendance.

“Cara was like, ‘You must say hi to her’… she was like, ‘You have to,'” Rapp recounted.

However, Rapp admitted she was resistant to meeting the 35-time Grammy winner.

“I was like, ‘You walk me up there, b**ch, and I will kill you. I’ll kill you in front of everybody here,'” she joked. “She dragged me. I was like, ‘This is my hero. I can’t do this.’ I would never even want bother her or anything.”

When the moment finally happened, Rapp kept the interaction quick as she was completely star-struck and “very drunk.”

Afterward, Rapp — understandably — couldn’t contain her excitement.

“I turned around maybe three feet, middle of a party, screamed at the top of my lungs,” she recalled. “I turned to Cara and was like, ‘Ah!’ I started freaking out.”

Despite the anxiety, Rapp described meeting Queen Bey as “the greatest night” of her life.

Rapp also praised Delevingne for being the bold wingwoman every friend needs.

“Cara is like the best person to have out with you because she is like your biggest cheerleader ever,” she gushed. “She’s like one of the greatest friends on planet Earth but knows how much I love Beyoncé and is really fearless about it.”

In February 2024, Beyoncé sent flowers to Rapp after she covered her 2016 song “Daddy Lessons.”

Rapp posted a photo of herself with the bouquet, along with a video of her stunned reaction, on Instagram.

“Being seen by your hero is the most indescribable feeling,” she captioned her post. “beyoncé you are my inspiration..you are everything to me. I’m speechless.”
