Prince William apparently doesn’t want his uncle Andrew Mountbatten Windsor‘s ongoing scandal to linger while he is in power.

In an article published Thursday, March 5, royal biographer Andrew Lownie told People as part of the outlet’s cover story that following Andrew’s arrest on February 19, the Prince of Wales, 43, “wants it all cleaned out before he gets [on the throne].”

“He wants it dealt with now,” Lownie further claimed.

As Star previously reported, Andrew — who was stripped of his royal titles and honors by King Charles III in 2025 — was taken into police custody on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office due to communication he had with Jeffrey Epstein when he worked as a trade envoy.

The arrest went down at Andrew’s temporary home, Wood Farm, on the 77-year-old sovereign’s private Sandringham property in Norfolk, and he was able to return to his residence that night.

Andrew has not yet been formally charged and has consistently denied any wrongdoing in his relationship with the late convicted sex offender.

Following the United States Department of Justice’s January 30 release of Epstein files, William and his wife, Princess Kate, released a statement about the situ

ation via a spokesperson on February 9.

“I can confirm The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations,” the spokesperson stated per People. “Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”

As Star reported earlier this week, Rob Shuter revealed on his Naughty But Nice Substack that Charles will allegedly make William king within the next year.

“The institution is preparing emotionally, even if the paperwork hasn’t caught up,” an insider told Shuter, claiming, “In many ways, he’s already king unofficially.”

However, another source explained that “Charles will not be seen as pushed.”

“He has waited a lifetime for this role,” the source added. “When he steps back, it will be entirely on his terms.”
