Prince Andrew, 65, isn’t the only royal accused of lying about ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. On Sept. 20, Daily Mail and The Sun published a bombshell email the Duke of York’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, sent the late financier in 2011 — just weeks after she publicly distanced herself from him in an interview with The London Standard — praising him as “a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family.”

The 65-year-old — who accepted at least $20,000 from Epstein to pay her debts despite her knowledge of his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor — had told the press, “I abhor pedophilia,” and admitted to a “gigantic error of judgment.” But in the leaked email, she “humbly” apologized for “hellaciously” letting Epstein down, saying she’d only condemned him because her “career as a children’s book author and a children’s philanthropist” was “disappearing.”
Those careers have since collapsed: On Sept. 22, at least seven kids’ and cancer charities cut ties with the duchess. Her rep now claims Fergie “was taken in by [Epstein’s] lies” and only sent the fawning note to “assuage” him after he threatened to “sue her for defamation.”
