Leo’s problem is that Jho is accused of committing massive fraud. According to the
New York Times, prosecutors say he helped siphon billions of dollars from a Malaysian government investment fund, then went on a colossal spending spree.

So the government is seizing his assets and items he gave as gifts, like Leo’s Oscar. Jho also gave Leo a painting by Pablo Picasso and a collage by Jean-Michel Basquiat. He turned them all over and it’s believed they’ll be sold off.

But the government is out of luck if they try to sell Brando’s Oscar. The Academy has the right to buy it back for just $1.
